A deep dive into the world of wild mushrooms and edible plants of Hawaiʻi. In this class we explore the forest with purpose—learning how to properly identify mushrooms, understand their ecological roles, and recognize the edible and toxic species that show up in our islands. We pair mushroom identification with plant foraging basics, giving you a full-spectrum foundation in wild foods. You’ll learn: Key features to identify mushrooms safely Common edible and medicinal species found in Hawaiʻi Toxic lookalikes and how to avoid them Useful forest plants and their cultural relevance Ethical harvesting practices that protect the ʻāina This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground experience designed for beginners and anyone curious about wild food, survival skills, and local ecology.
