Wild Ginger
Foraging & Cooking

One of Hawaii's most aromatic plants — learn to find it, identify it, and cook with it.

The Spice That's Already There

Wild ginger grows across Oahu's forests — in creek beds, shaded valleys, and along forest trails. Most hikers walk past it without knowing it's there, or what it's worth in the kitchen.

This focused class covers one plant deeply: how to correctly identify wild ginger and its look-alikes, where it grows, how to harvest it sustainably, and how to use it in cooking — fresh, dried, fermented, and infused.

You'll spend time in the field finding ginger, then move to a hands-on cooking session where Yuda demonstrates several techniques and you get to taste the results.
